Pond waterfall can dramatically change the appearance of your backyard.

Poor design can also ruin the sound of falling water. And the waterfall is about the sound of the falling water!

Use a garden hose and allow water to drop into the pond at various heights. This experiment should help you to achieve the best sound.

For all waterfalls, the rule is simple - for every inch of width it must get 100 gallons of water flow per hour. (My steps are 24 inches wide and my pump would need to deliver 2,400 gallons per hour. The pump I use is powerful enough to deliver up to 3,000 gallons).

I am going to describe the way I managed to build mine. It wasn’t easy and I had my share of frustration, but the final result is fantastic!
