String Algae!

String algae (multi-cellular)
String algae (multi-cellular) and green pond water (unicellular) cannot co-exist in the same body of water. As soon as you get rid of one, the other one starts. It’s found only in clear water, require very little nitrogen and does best in fast moving water, like the waterfall.

Algae eating fish is the best eradicator. Goldfish is good choice but the pond may need lots of them. Koi is best but being very aggressive it will eat your good plants. The solution is to protect your plants by use of something like this Plant-Heaven.

If you feed your fish smaller amounts of fish food, it will encourage grazing on algae. While the algae eating fish keeps your pond clear, you keep the waterfall and stream garden clear. Fare trade-off.

There are new cures that use oxidizing agents to kill both kinds but I am not familiar with it.

Copper Sulfate and Algae Fix
Previously discussed copper sulfate and Algae Fix will help to control algae string but require repeated treatments. Copper can be harmful to your fish and plants if it’s not used properly. Algae Fix is not as long as you don’t overdose.

Bacteria-Enzyme-Microbe
I use Bacteria-Enzyme-Microbe products occasionally. Published studies indicate a dramatic drop in phosphate when microbes are added to water column. The lower the phosphate, the less string and scum algae can be found. After I clean my filters, I periodically add Bacteria for best results.

Remember this. Phosphate levels of only .02 ppm are needed to support algae growth. Since fish food is loaded with phosphorous, it is unlikely that it can be reduced enough by microbes in fish ponds to actually inhibit algae. You’ll be the judge.
